Savannah State tops S.C. State 73-69
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP)—Raye Bailey scored 22 points and made all 10 of his free throws in Savannah State’s 73-69 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday night.
Bailey scored Savannah State’s final eight points from the line in the final 53.8 seconds to seal the victory for the Tigers (6-6).
Jason Johnson had 18 points and Carrio Bennett added 16 for South Carolina State (3-6), which made just 24 of 44 free throws and had its two-game winning streak snapped.
Thomas Bookman added 10 points for South Carolina State, which lost to Savannah State for the first time since the 1970-71 season.
Chris Linton added 16 points for Savannah State, which took its largest lead with 11:02 left when Keron McKenzie’s jumper made it 53-46.
