Myron Strong stars as San Francisco holds off Weber St. 67-65
SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—Myron Strong had 16 points and seven rebounds, and San Francisco made eight free throws in the final 1:37 to hold off Weber State 67-65 on Saturday.
Manny Quezada scored 15 points and Dior Lowhorn had 14 for the Dons (4-5), who took the lead for good on Danny Cavic’s 3-pointer with 1:49 left in the finale of a four-game homestand.
Lowhorn grabbed two key rebounds and hit four free throws on San Francisco’s next two possessions. Tyler Billings’ 3-pointer cut Weber State’s deficit to two points with 12 seconds left, but Quezada hit two final free throws before Brody Van Brocklin missed a 3-pointer.
Arturas Valeika had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (2-6), who lost their fourth straight despite holding a narrow lead for most of the game. Juan Pablo Silveira added 12 points and Kellen McCoy also had 12, including a tip-in basket at the buzzer.
The schools will meet again in Ogden on Dec. 28.
