Murray State uses early run to defeat Morehead State 63-44
MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—After eight minutes of sloppy basketball by both teams, Murray State went on a 16-3 to jump out to a 23-10 midway through the first half against Morehead State.
The Racers didn’t look back as they coasted to a 63-44 win on Saturday night.
Murray (4-3, 1-1 Ohio Valley Conference) shot 54 percent from the field on their way to their first OVC win. Bruce Carter led the Racers with 13 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Holloway had 11 points, going 3-5 on 3-point attempts, and Tony Easley added 9 points.
Leon Buchanan led Morehead (2-6, 0-2) with 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting. Kenneth Faried had nine points and 11 rebounds, and Maze Stallworth added 7 points.
The Murray defense dominated the action, as they held Morehead to 12 of 46 (26 percent) shooting from the field for the game. Morehead shot 15 of 18 from the free throw line.
