Browns’s 22 points lead Lafayette to 78-64 victory over Columbia
NEW YORK (AP)—Andrew Brown scored a season-high 22 points on Saturday to lead Lafayette to a 78-64 victory over Columbia, the Leopards’ fifth victory in six games.
Columbia (3-6) held a 9-8 lead early in the first half but Lafayette (6-3) went on a 14-5 run to take a 22-14 lead and extended it to 35-23 at halftime.
Lafayette led 59-38 midway through the second half but the Lions rallied behind Brett Loscalzo to pull within 62-53 with 4:33 to go.
Bilal Abdullah then scored eight of his 11 points in a 14-7 burst that put the Leopards ahead 78-60 with a minute left.
K.J. Matsui led the Lions, who have lost two of three, with 14 points and Loscalzo finished with 11.
Paul Cummings added 12 points for the Leopards and Ted Detmer had 11, nine in the first half.
