Jackson scores 21 in 77-54 win over Youngstown State
CLEVELAND (AP)—Cedric Jackson scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half and hot-shooting Cleveland State jumped out to a fast start and went on to beat Youngstown State 77-54 Saturday night.
Jackson was 5-of-9 from the field in the first half as the Vikings (7-3, 1-0 Horizon League) shot 61 percent, 17-of-28 from the field, to build a 44-24 halftime lead over the Penguins (3-5, 0-1). Cleveland State made 70 percent of its second-half shots, 14-of-20, and shot 65 percent for the game.
Jackson finished 7-of-13, including two 3-pointers. George Tandy was 5-of-5 for 15 points for Cleveland State. He also had six rebounds.
Nathan Bullock scored nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field for the Vikings.
The Penguins shot just 37 percent for the game, 19-of-53. John Barber led the Penguins with 18 points. Jack Liles scored 12 and Vytas Sulskis added nine for Youngstown State.
