Thompson scores 25, leading Rider to an 82-58 win over Canisius
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Jason Thompson scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Rider beat Canisius 82-58 Saturday night.
Thompson was 11-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line. His 878 career rebounds passed Dick Kuchen for the all-time school mark.
Ryan Thompson had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Harris Mansell scored 13 points, and Justin Robinson had 12 points and four steals for Rider (6-4, 1-1 MAAC).
Julius Coles led Canisius (0-8, 0-2 MAAC) with 13 points and 4 rebounds.
Rider scored 18 first half points off 10 Golden Griffin turnovers with eight steals. The Broncs shot 54.5 percent in the half and 55.9 percent for the game.
Jason Thompson’s thundering alley-oop slam dunk gave Rider a 39-30 lead with 2:37 left. The Broncs then went on a 10-3 run to take a 49-33 lead at halftime and led by as much as 21 in the game.
