McKnight has 17 in Akron’s 96-49 win over North Carolina Central
AKRON, Ohio (AP)—Chris McKnight scored 17 points and Akron raced to a 38-point halftime lead in beating North Carolina Central 96-49 Saturday night.
Akron (6-2) controlled the game from the opening tip, scoring 14 of the first 17 points. A 24-0 run gave Akron a 48-16 lead with 5:39 left in the half and the Zips finished the half with a 61-23 lead.
Mike Bardo and Nick Dials had 12 points apiece for Akron, who shot 58 percent from the field, 37-of-64. Jeremiah Wood added 10 for the Zips.
North Carolina Central (1-11) was limited to just 33 percent shooting from the field, 19-of-57. Charles Futrell scored 19 points for North Carolina Central.
Akron scored 41 points off of 22 turnovers by the Eagles and out-rebounded the Eagles, 41-29.
