SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP)—Alex Harris shot six 3-pointers and scored 25 points to lead UC Santa Barbara to its seventh straight win, 81-61, over Utah Valley University on Friday.

The Gauchos (9-1), who also got 12 points each from Chris Devine and James Powell, are off to their best start since going 15-1 in the 1988-89 season. Ivan Elliott added 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Wolverines (3-6) lost their fourth straight despite Ryan Toolson’s four 3-pointers and 25 points.

Toolson’s 3-ball got Utah Valley within 31-28 with 3:11 left in the first half. But Harris’ 3-pointer fueled an 8-0 run for UCSB to end the half.

The Gauchos outshot the Wolverines 50-to-40 percent.

Utah Valley’s Jordan Brady led all rebounders with eight.
