Mount St. Mary’s, Md. beats Long Island U. 73-55
EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP)—Sam Atupem scored a game-high 17 points and Jeremy Goode and Chris Vann contributed 13 points each, and Mount St. Mary’s defeated Long Island 73-55 Thursday night.
The Mountaineers (3-4) took a 41-25 halftime lead after going on a 12-2 run late in the first half. Long Island (4-3) cut the deficit to 29-23 with 4:19 left in the period. The Mount responded by scoring the next 10 points.
Long Island moved within 51-39 on a 3-pointer by senior Eugene Kotorobai with 13:14 to go, but the Blackbirds made just two field goals over the next nine minutes as Mount St. Mary’s pulled away. The Mountaineers led by as much as 71-46 in the final minutes.
Ron Manigault scored a team-high 15 points for Long Island.
