Portland State 61, Lewis & Clark 60
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Andre Murray scored 14 points, including 12 in the first half, to lead Portland State to a 61-60 win over Lewis & Clark Wednesday night.
Deonte Huff added 13 points for the Vikings (6-3), who played without leading rebounder Scott Morrison due to a back injury.
Julius Thomas chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds for PSU. Tyson Papenfuss led the Pioneers (3-2) with 14 points and Mark Robinowitz added 13 points.
Portland State jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the opening five minutes held the Division III Pioneers scoreless until 14:33 was left in the first half.
PSU extended its lead to 20-9 with a 10-2 run that included eight straight points from Murray. The Vikings led by as many as 15 points in the second half, but the Pioneers cut the lead to 52-46 with 4:44 to play after a flurry of 3-pointers by Robinowitz.
Lewis & Clark ended the game with a 9-2 run that closed the lead to one point with under a minute to play.
After a PSU turnover in the final 10 seconds L&C’s Joey Toboni had a desperation shot at the buzzer that fell short.
