NEW YORK (AP)—Marcus Stout scored 22 points and Fordham, which lost all but one point of a 21-point lead in the second half, held on for a 73-71 victory over Hofstra on Wednesday night.

Stout’s 3-pointer with 17:22 to play capped a 22-2 run—including the first 12 points of the second half—that gave the Rams (4-4) a 44-23 lead.

Antoine Agudio, who had a career-high 36 points, then scored all the points in a 9-0 run that began Hofstra’s comeback. Agudio, who was 2-for-8 from the field and had six points at halftime, scored on a three-point play with 7:40 left to bring the Pride (1-4) within 56-55. He made eight of his first 10 shots from the field in the second half.

A three-point play by Charles Jenkins brought Hofstra within 67-65 with 39 seconds to play.

Bryant Dunston, Stout and Brenton Butler all went 2-for-2 from the foul line over the final 14 seconds to offset three layups by Hofstra.

Dunston, who had six of his 11 points in the run to open the second half, Stout and Kevin Anderson all didn’t start for the first time this season. Coach Dereck Whittenburg kept them out of the lineup because he was upset with what he called their lackadaisical play as the Rams lost four of their last five games, including consecutive losses at home. The three entered the game 3:09 in.

Butler had 11 points for Fordham, while Sebastian Greene and Chris Bethel both had 10.

Jenkins finished with 10 points for the Pride, who shot 66.7 percent in the second half (18-for-27) and were 24-for-48 for the game. Hofstra committed 27 turnovers, 11.5 over its season average.

Agudio, who entered the game averaging 25.5 points, broke the 30-point mark for the fourth time this season. He scored 34 points twice, the last time in an overtime loss to North Carolina-Wilmington last Saturday.
