E. Washington finishes strong to beat UMKC 65-54

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Marcus Hinton scored a team-high 16 points Monday to lead Eastern Washington to a 65-54 nonconference win over Missouri-Kansas City.

Kellen Williams had 15 points and Gary Gibson added 14 for the Eagles (3-6).

Reggie Hamilton had a career-high 19 points for the Kangaroos (3-5) in their first home loss in four games.

The Eagles led 34-21 at halftime, but UMKC cut the margin to four at 55-51 on a baseline jumper by Dane Brumagin with 2:32 left in the game.

Hinton took over in the last two minutes, scoring six of his 16 points during that span, while the Eagles were 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the last 1:43.

Hamilton had 13 of his 19 points in the second half to fuel the Kangaroo comeback, but he was the only UMKC player in double figures.
