Bucknell 67, Bucknell 66
LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP)—John Griffin scored 21 points and hit two free throws with eight seconds remaining to lift Bucknell to a come-from-behind 67-66 victory over La Salle on Monday.
Patrick Behan and Justin Castleberry each added 18 points for Bucknell (3-4), which trailed by 12 points at the half and by nine with five minutes to play.
Darnell Harris scored 25 points, including seven of 12 3-point attempts, to lead La Salle (3-3).
The Explorers went on a 27-8 run in the first half for a 39-23 lead with 1:35 left in the period. Bucknell whittled the advantage to 39-27 at the break and scored the first six points of the second half to pull to 39-33. They made it 54-50 on Darryl Shazier’s basket with 7:30 left.
Sherman Diaz hit a pair of 3-pointers to give La Salle a 64-55 lead with 5:21 left, but the Bison went on a 12-2 run to end the game.
Todd O’Brien grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a basket to make it 66-65 with 43 seconds left. Griffin was fouled and hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to give the Bison their first lead since they were ahead 15-12.
