Alex Franklin scores 24 to lead Siena over Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—Alex Franklin scored 24 points and Kenny Hasbrouck added 18 to lead Siena to a 75-71 win over Albany Saturday.
Franklin also grabbed 10 rebounds to complete his fourth straight double-double.
Siena built an 18-point lead 12 minutes into the game and led 43-33 at the break.
Siena (3-3) extended its lead to 20 points on a jump shot by Chris De la Rosa with 12:35 remaining. Albany used a 16-0 run over the next eight minutes to close within 58-54.
A 3-pointer by Ronald Moore gave Siena a seven point lead and the teams traded baskets before Franklin scored and pushed the margin to nine with 2:24 left.
Siena missed eight of its 23 free throws, including several in the final minutes to allow Albany back in the game.
Albany’s Brian Lillis made it a 73-71 game, sinking three free throws with six seconds remaining.
Franklin scored the final two just before the buzzer.
Wilson Brent led Albany (4-2) with 20 points, while Lillis added 19.
