Carter helps N.C.-Wilmington beat Hofstra in OT
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP)—T.J. Carter had 23 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to help North Carolina-Wilmington hold off Hofstra 87-83 on Saturday in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.
Vladimir Kuljanin had 18 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the Seahawks (5-2). Todd Hendley added 15 points.
Antoine Agudio, who connected on 13-of-22 shots, tied his career high with 34 points for the Pride (1-3), who held a 34-28 lead at halftime. Nathaniel Lester added 17 points, and Charles Jenkins had 16.
Lester’s 3-pointer with a tenth of a second remaining in regulation tied it at 77.
In overtime, a jumper by Jenkins gave Hofstra an 82-81 lead at 1:01, but Charles Tomko’s basket gave the Seahawks the lead for good, 83-82, with 42 seconds to play. Tomko added two foul shots to make it 85-82 and ice the win with 25 seconds remaining.
