ETSU beats Tenn. Wesleyan 98-60 with strong 3-point shooting
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP)—Travis Strong scored 21 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, to lead East Tennessee State to a 98-60 win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday.
Courtney Pigram had a double-double for ETSU (3-3) with 14 points and 11 assists. Kenyona Swader added 17 points, and Blake Mishler had eight rebounds.
Tennessee Wesleyan kept the score close early until ETSU went on a 19-4 run to take a 28-11 lead with just over seven minutes left in the first half.
It was all ETSU after that with the Buccaneers shooting 58 percent from the field and 61 percent from behind the arc and forcing 31 turnovers from Tennessee Wesleyan (2-6).
Willie Maclin led Tennessee Wesleyan with 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
