Kyle Roemer scores 18 to lead Colgate over Cornell
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP)—Kyle Roemer scored a game high 18 points and Daniel Waddy added 16 to lead Colgate over Cornell 76-73 Saturday.
Both teams shot well from the floor. Colgate connected on 49 percent overall and 47 percent from 3-point range. Cornell shot 48 percent overall and 39 percent from beyond the arc.
Trailing by one point at halftime, Colgate fell behind by as many as eight points with 9:40 left in the game, 49-41.
The Raiders (5-3), however, put together a nine-point run to take a 50-49 lead with 6:58 left.
The Big Red then tied it at 53-53 with a 3-pointer by Ryan Wittman, but Roemer tallied five straight points to give the Raiders the lead for good.
Colgate led by as many as eight points in the final minutes, and made 14-of-16 free throws down the stretch.
Wittman led Cornell (4-2) with 17 points, all in the second half. Colin Robinson added 14, and Louis Dale added 10.
