Five Spartans in double figures as San Jose State beats Cal State Bakersfield 78-63
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP)—Tim Pierce scored 17 points to lead five San Jose State players in double figures as the Spartans used a 45-point second half to beat Cal State Bakersfield 78-63 on Friday night.
Jamon Hill had 14 points for San Jose State (3-1) and C.J. Webster added 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Santwon Latunde led all scorers with 18 points and also had 11 rebounds for the Roadrunners (1-6). Terrance Johns added 17 points, 13 of them in the first half.
Cal State Bakersfield led by four at the half and expanded that to a 43-35 lead with 17:26 to play.
But San Jose State then went on a 12-2 run and eventually led by as many as 17.
The Spartans out-shot the Roadrunners 54 percent to 41 percent and out-rebounded them 38-to-33.
