Braeuer’s 17 points lift Wichita St. over Appalachian St., 62-53
BOONE, N.C. (AP)—Matt Braeuer hit 5-of-8 shots from 3-point range and scored 17 points to lead Wichita State to a 62-53 victory over Appalachian State on Thursday night.
P.J. Couisnard and Phillip Thomasson scored 16 points each for Wichita State (4-2).
Donte Minter led the Mountaineers (3-4) with 16 points. Jeremy Clayton scored 11 points, and Eduardo Bermudez added 10 on 5-of-7 shooting.
Appalachian State led by 11 points, the Mountaineers’ largest lead of the game, in the final minute of the first half and led 32-25 at halftime.
But Wichita State opened the second half with a 12-0 run and took a 37-32 lead.
The Mountaineers fought back, and led by one point with under six minutes to play. But the Shockers scored 15 of the games final 20 minutes.
