SE Missouri’s bench shines in win over Louisiana Tech
RUSTON, La. (AP)—Brandon Foust, a transfer from Oklahoma, came off the bench to score 17 and reserve forward Jaycen Herring added 12 as Southeast Missouri edged past Louisiana Tech 59-54 on Wednesday.
The Redhawks, which trailed 25-24 at the half, shot a blistering 57.1 percent in the second half and made crucial free throws down the stretch to get the win.
Louisiana Tech got a career-high 21 points from sophomore Kyle Gibson and had an open look at a game-tying 3-pointer in the final 10 seconds but he missed from the corner. Southeast Missouri’s Roderick Pearson pulled down the rebound and was fouled. He knocked down both free throw attempts to seal the win.
Jonathan “JC” Clark added 10 points for Tech (1-4), which outrebounded the Redhawks (4-3) for the game, 32-27, but shot a dismal 15 percent from 3-point range (3-of-20) and missed numerous open layups in the first half.
