Dia scores 19 as SMU beats Paul Quinn, 81-63

DALLAS (AP)—Papa Dia scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds, and SMU broke a four-game slide to open the season with an 81-63 win over Paul Quinn on Tuesday night.

Dia, who shot 8-of-12 from the floor, was among three SMU players with double-doubles. Ryan Harp had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Bamba Fall had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Mustangs (1-4).

Damien Chisholm scored 24 points for Paul Quinn (5-5) and Larry Ivey added 10.

SMU led 49-39 at the break.

Paul Quinn got within three early in the second half before SMU went on a 10-0 run to make it 59-46. Paul Quinn never got closer than seven the rest of the way.
