SE Louisiana wins 4th straight with 61-49 victory over Jackson St.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP)—Tavaris Nance and Patrick Sullivan scored 12 points each to lead Southeastern Louisiana to its fourth straight win with a 61-49 victory over Jackson State on Tuesday night.
Southeastern Louisiana (5-1) scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed.
The Lions shot 52 percent in the first half to take a 28-25 halftime lead.
Jackson State (1-6) pulled within 30-29 early in the second half on a basket from Jeremy Caldwell. But Warrell Span scored six of his 10 points during a 14-0 run that pushed the Lions’ lead to 44-29 with 12:52 left.
Grant Maxey led Jackson State with 16 points and Caldwell added 12.
Jackson State shot only 32 percent for the game and was out rebounded 42-28.
