Dyer has double-double to lead Illinois State past Chicago State 81-49
NORMAL, Ill. (AP)—Senior Levi Dyer scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Illinois State to an 81-49 rout of Chicago State on Tuesday.
Four players scored in double figures for Illinois State (4-2). Osiris Eldridge had 15 points, Anthony Slack added 14 points and Dinma Odiakosa chipped in 12 for the Redbirds, who led 39-21 at the half.
John Cantrell had a game-high 18 points for Chicago State (2-5). David Holston had 12 points and Carl Montgomery added 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Cougars.
Cantrell scored the first seven points of the game to steer Chicago State to a 10-8 advantage, but the Redbirds scored 25 unanswered points to take a 33-10 lead.
Illinois State’s bench outscored Chicago State’s bench 39-8 and the Redbirds had 12 3-pointers for the game, compared to three from behind the arc for the Cougars.
