Fedotov scores 71 points as Buffalo beats Canisius, 68-59
AMHERST, N.Y. (AP)—Vadim Fedotov scored a career-high 17 points and added nine rebounds to lift Buffalo to a 68-59 win over Canisius Tuesday night.
Buffalo (3-3) trailed 15-14 with 7:31 left in the first half but closed the period with a 21-8 run and led 35-23 at halftime. Fedotov led the charge with four baskets during the run.
Canisius (0-5) went the final 7:30 of the first half without hitting a field goal.
The Golden Griffins pulled to within six after a 10-1 run early in the second half. Tomas Vazquez-Simmons? field goal capped the run and made it 42-37 with 14:39 remaining.
Buffalo quickly countered with two 3-pointers within a minute by Sean Smiley and Calvin Betts. Betts? 3-pointer made it 50-39 with 11:33 to play. Canisius never closed within eight the rest of the way.
Andy Robinson had nine points for the Bulls while Greg Gamble and Betts added eight.
Willie Hassell scored 12 points, all in the second half, to lead Canisius. Frank Turner had 10.
