Brumagin leads UMKC to 77-66 win over Florida Atlantic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Dane Brumagin had 21 points Monday to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 77-66 nonconference victory over Florida Atlantic.

The Kangaroos (3-3) improved their home record to 3-0 while the Owls lost for the fifth time in six games.

Sixteen of Brumagin’s points came in a span of 5:22 in the second half. The game was tied at 48-48 with 10 minutes remaining when Brumagin, who was 5-of-8 from 3-point range, hit three consecutive 3-pointers in a little over a minute to put UMKC up 57-48.

The Kangaroos connected on 7-of-11 free throws in the last three minutes to seal the victory.

Florida Atlantic’s Carlos Monroe led all scorers with 26, while Jeff Palmer added 12 for the Owls. Monroe also had 13 rebounds.

Brent Stephens scored 16 for the Kangaroos, Tim Blackwell had 14 and Reggie Hamilton added 10.
