Florida A&M overcomes 19-deficit to beat Kennesaw State
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP)—Leslie Robinson scored 22 points and Florida A&M rallied from a 19-point deficit to beat Kennesaw State 86-79 on Saturday night.
The Owls (1-5) had a 50-31 lead when Ronell Wooten made a 3-pointer just before halftime. Wooten was the game’s leading scorer with 28 points and nine rebounds.
But the Rattlers (1-3) went on a 25-10 run, cutting the lead to 60-58 with 10:22 left in the second half. About six minutes later, Florida A&M took a 70-68 lead—its first lead of the game—on Robinson’s 3-pointer.
Kennesaw State regained a 71-70 advantage on Shaun Stegall’s made free throw with 3:14 remaining in the game. But the Owls would never lead again as Florida A&M finished the game on a 16-8 run.
Lamar Twitty had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Rattlers. Akini Akini scored 16 points and seven rebounds, while Oliver Prince added 15.
Stegall scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Kennesaw State.
