McCalebb has 18 as UNO heads off Tulane surge to win, 74-67
NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Bo McCalebb scored 18 points and Kyndall Dykes made 16 before an ankle injury took him off the court as New Orleans beat Tulane 74-67 on Saturday.
McCalebb also had four steals—all in the first half—to become the school’s career leader, with 182.
The Privateers (3-0) had a 39-28 lead at halftime, forcing 13 turnovers and turning them into 11 points.
UNO led by 17 points with 13:35 left in a game plagued by shot and game clock problems. After a break while the shot clock was shut off, Tulane (3-1) went on a 19-2 spurt after that break, tying the game at 53-53 with 6:40 left.
But the Green Wave never led, and the Privateers took the lead for good when McCalebb hit a free throw with 5:43 to go.
David Gomez led Tulane with 15 points, while Kevin Sims had 13.
Dykes was taken to a hospital immediately following the game.
