Late free throws lift Eastern Michigan over St. Bonaventure
OLEAN, N.Y. (AP)— Jesse Bunkley scored 17 points and Jarred Axon added 15 to lead Eastern Michigan to a 63-60 win over St. Bonaventure Saturday.
Travis Lewis hit a free throw to give Eastern Michigan (3-2) the edge with 23 seconds left to play. Carlos Medlock had 11 second-half points, totaling 13 for the game.
For St. Bonaventure (3-3), Michael Lee scored a game-high 22 points and had nine rebounds. Tyler Relph added 14 points.
The Eagles outscored the Bonnies, 11-7, to start the second half, tying the game at 33. After seven lead changes, the Bonnies took a six-point lead at 47-41 with 11:13 to play. Eastern Michigan regained the lead at 55-54 on a two-point basket from Bunkley with 2:58 to go.
Relph made two foul shots to tie the game at 58 with 1:05 remaining. Medlock and Lewis combined for five throws to win the game.
