Rosenberg has 31 as Hartford beats South Carolina State in OT
LAS VEGAS (AP)—Jaret Von Rosenberg scored a career-high 31 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer with 14 seconds left in regulation, to lead Hartford to an 80-72 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday in the fifth-place game of the Las Vegas Invitational.
Von Rosenberg shot 9-for-14—including 6-for-9 from 3-point range—made all seven of his free throws and had nine points in overtime.
Hartford rallied from a 65-58 deficit with 2:14 left in regulation.
In overtime, the Hawks scored the first six points and never trailed.
Joe Zeglinski had 11 points and five rebounds for Hartford (3-4), and Warren McLendon had 10 points and five rebounds.
Jason Flagler led South Carolina State (1-5) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Julius Carter added 12 points.
The Bulldogs’ Carrio Bennett missed a potential game-winning shot in the lane in the final shot of regulation.
The Bulldogs, who out-rebounded the Hawks 53-33, built a 44-36 lead in the second half but the Hawks went on a 16-4 run to take a 52-48 lead with 9:58 remaining.
Later, the Bulldogs retook the lead 57-56 with 6:01 left and pulled away for that seven-point lead with 2:14 left.
