Jarvis, Vealy combine for 30 off bench as ORU beats Lamar 65-57
BEAUMONT, Texas (AP)—Robert Jarvis and Marchello Vealy combined for 30 points off the bench to lead Oral Roberts past Lamar 65-57 Saturday night.
Jarvis scored 16 points and was 6-of-6 on free throws for the Golden Eagles (3-2), who made all 10 of their free throws in the second half, including eight in the final 3:08.
Vealy was 5-of-6 from the field and made both his 3-pointers as ORU shot 47 percent (8-of-17) from 3-point range. Vealy also had four blocks.
Thanks to Jarvis and Vealy, Oral Roberts had a 32-9 advantage in bench scoring.
Kenny Dawkins had game highs of 18 points and seven assists for Lamar (1-3), while Lamar Sanders had six points and 11 rebounds.
Shawn King had a double-double for ORU with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and he had three blocks.
The Cardinals outshot the Golden Eagles 52 percent to 39 percent in the first half but still trailed 32-29.
