Pane gets career-high 26 as Houston beats Grambling St. 95-53
HOUSTON (AP)—Brockeith Pane scored a career-high 26 points to lead Houston past Grambling State 95-53 Saturday night.
The Tigers (0-5) led with just 5:44 remaining in the first half after a three-point play by Andrew Prestley, but the Cougars outscored them 16-5 the rest of the half and never looked back.
Houston (5-1) had another 16-5 run to start the second half, pushing its lead to 61-40 with 13:14 remaining. The Cougars outscored Grambling 50-18 after halftime.
Anthony Williams led the Tigers with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Prestley added 11 points.
The Cougars shot 49 percent and held the Tigers to 29 percent shooting while converting 20 Grambling turnovers into 24 points.
Zamal Nixon had 12 points off the bench for Houston, and Tafari Toney added 11. Marcus Cousin had 10.
