Western Illinois overcomes halftime deficit to beat Eastern Illinois 75-57
MACOMB, Ill. (AP)—David Jackson scored a team-high 14 points and Nikola Bodic added 13 to help Western Illinois defeat Eastern Illinois 75-57 on Tuesday night.
Western Illinois (2-2) put on a well-balanced offensive show with five players scoring in double digits. Along with Jackson and Bodic, David DuBois had 12 points, James Washington scored 11 points and Jerryck Owens-Murrey chipped in 10.
Romain Martin led Eastern Illinois (1-2) in scoring with a game-high 16 points, 13 in the first 20 minutes of the game. Bobby Catchings added 12 points.
The Panthers struggled in the opening minutes of the game, falling behind 6-0, but came back to go into halftime with a 31-30 lead.
The game stayed close for much of the second half but the Leathernecks went on a 22-7 run over the last seven minutes to secure the win.
