Mensa’s 20 points off bench leads Duquesne past Oakland
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP)—Kojo Mensah came off the bench to score 20 points in 24 minutes and three other Duquesne players also finished in double figures in the Dukes’ 92-77 victory over Oakland on Tuesday night.
Mensah and Damian Saunders had 13 rebounds apiece for Duquesne (4-0), which never trailed. Gary Tucker scored 18 points, reserve Bill Clark had 16 and Aaron Jackson 12 for the visitors.
Duquesne hit 11-of-33 of its 3-point shots and had a 66-55 rebounding advantage. The Dukes led by as many as 17 points in the first half and as many as 24 in the second. They shot just 39 percent but held Oakland to 32 percent.
The Golden Grizzlies (2-2) got a game-high 22 points from Brandon Cassise and another 20 from Derick Nelson. Shane Lawal added 10 points, 16 rebounds and five blocked shots, while Johnathon Jones added 12 points.
