Wills gets double-double, leads A&T to third straight win
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP)—Jason Wills scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as North Carolina A&T pulled away from Montreat for an 82-51 victory Monday night.
The Aggies (3-2), who won their third straight game, climbed above .500 for the first time since Jan. 31, 2001. But they did it by beating three teams outside NCAA Division I.
Wills, who had four turnovers in the first five minutes, made up for his mistakes by delivering seven points in slightly more than a minute in the first half to help A&T take control.
The Cavaliers (1-5) trailed 36-24 at the half, and couldn’t make up the deficit thanks in part to a 7-for-38 effort from 3-point range. They were also outrebounded 60-37.
Timothy Harper had 11 points for Montreat and Thomas Nicholson scored 10.
