Kool’s 22 points leads Western Michigan past Detroit
DETROIT (AP)—David Kool scored 22 points and Joe Reitz added 14 Monday to lead Western Michigan past Detroit 60-59 on Monday.
The victory ended the Broncos’ eight-game losing streak at Calihan Hall and capped a season-opening five-game road trip.
Western Michigan (3-2) took the lead for good on a pair of Reitz free throws with less than two minutes to play. The Titans (1-2) had trailed 52-42 with five minutes to play but tied the game with a 10-0 run.
The Broncos were 6-for-6 from the line in the final two minutes to keep Detroit at bay.
Jon Goode had 24 points and four assists and Josh Samarco came off the bench to add 13 points for the Titans, who led 32-28 at intermission after going 14-for-23 from the field.
