Nutter’s heroics in OT seal win for Seton Hall
NEWARK, N.J. (AP)—Jamar Nutter scored five of his 11 points in the final seconds of overtime—including a 3-pointer off a steal that put Seton Hall ahead for good—as the Pirates rallied to beat Robert Morris 111-107 in the Philly Hoop Group Classic on Sunday.
Brian Laing added a career-high 32 points and Eugene Harvey had 27 for the Pirates (2-0), who trailed for most of the game and overcame a 23-point deficit early in the second half to send the game into overtime.
Jimmy Langhurst and Jeremy Chappell each had 21 points for Robert Morris (2-1), while Tony Lee had 19 points and 12 assists.
The teams were tied at 97-97 in regulation, then traded baskets for most of the extra session.
With the game tied at 106-106 and the final seconds ticking down, Nutter stepped in front of an outlet pass off a missed Seton Hall shot and picked it off. He then calmly stepped behind the 3-point line to nail the game-winning shot with 7.6 seconds left.
Nutter then sealed the win three seconds later when he hit two free throws.
