Loyola 83, Vermont 79
BALTIMORE (AP)—Marquis Sullivan scored 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, and Omari Isreal added 17 to lift Loyola, Md. to an 83-79 victory over Vermont on Sunday.
Vermont’s Colin McIntosh missed an open 3-pointer from the right wing with 2.5 seconds left, and Brett Harvey made both free throws to seal the Greyhounds’ victory.
Marqus Blakely scored a game-high 30 points and Mike Trimboli chipped in with 14 points and nine assists for the Catamounts (0-3).
Loyola (3-1) was 12-for-23 from the 3-point line to win its third consecutive game.
Sullivan hit a 3-pointer from the right wing to give Loyola a 68-65 lead with 8:20 left in regulation, and he nailed a long jumper from the top of the key to tie his previous career-high, 24 points.
Sullivan hit his seventh 3-pointer with five minutes remaining, and Harvey followed with his third 3 to put the Greyhounds ahead, 76-69. Harvey was 3-for-3 beyond the arc and finished with 13 points.
Trimboli sank a 15-foot jumper to cut the Catamounts’ deficit to 80-79 with 10.4 seconds left. Blakely used his fifth foul on Gerald Brown with 8.9 seconds to play.
Brown missed his first free throw but made his second give Loyola an 81-79 lead.
