Rhode Island claims an 80-65 victory over Stetson
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Will Daniels scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Rhode Island past Stetson, 80-65, in the third round of the Glenn Wilkes Basketball Classic Saturday night.
Kahiem Seawright and Joe Mbang added 12 points apiece as the winning Rams (4-0) were never seriously threatened by Stetson (1-3). Seawright also had ten rebounds and a game-best six assists.
Jimmy Baron and Lamonte Ulmer contributed ten points each as the fourth and fifth URI players to score in double figures.
Garfield Blair scored 17 points for Stetson, which shot a poor 33.3 percent from the field throughout the game. Sheldon Oliver added ten points for the Hatters. He also had a team-best nine rebounds.
The Rams, who jumped to a 14-point halftime lead, 43-29, shot with 49.3 proficiency from the field.
