JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP)—Raul Orta scored 18 points—including the winning 3-pointer with six seconds left—as St. Peter’s beat Wagner 72-69 on Saturday night.
Darrell Lampley came off the bench to score 13 points for the Peacocks (1-2), while Todd Sowell added 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Joey Mundweiler had 17 points for the Seahawks (1-2), while James Ulrich had 14 and Durrell Vinson and Llewchean Radford both scored 11.
St. Peter’s took command early on and led 34-26 at halftime. Wagner, though, fought back and took a 66-62 lead with 4:33 to play. The Peacocks then went on a 7-0 run to regain the lead, but Mundweiler hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to knot the score.
Orta then hit his game-winner, and Mark Porter’s subsequent 3-point try failed as the buzzer sounded.
