UMass hot from long range to down Wisconsin-Green Bay
AMHERST, Mass. (AP)—Etienne Brower and Gary Forbes each scored 25 points and Massachusetts tied a program record with 15 made 3-pointers in a 93-78 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay on Saturday night.
Brower went 7-for-10 on 3-pointers and Forbes was 4-for-7, as the team hit 15-of-32 overall.
Tony Gaffney added 15 points for the Minutemen (4-1) while Forbes also had seven rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots.
UMass trailed 7-5 in the early minutes but went on a 12-0 run to take the lead for good. Gaffney scored three baskets in the run. Brower was 4-for-4 and Forbes 4-for-6 from long range in the half when UMass shot 58 percent from the field.
The Minutemen led 56-35 at halftime and Wisconsin-Green Bay never got within single digits in the second half.
Mike Schachtner had 20 points and Terry Evans added 16 for Wisconsin-Green Bay.
The Minutemen previously hit 15 3-pointers in a 1997 game against Temple.
