Missouri State wins in first round of Price Cutter Classic
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP)—Deven Mitchell scored 24 points to lead Missouri State to an 86-67 win over Harding in the opening round of the Price Cutter Classic on Friday night.
Missouri State (1-1) led by as many as 20 in the first half before taking a 49-35 halftime lead. Missouri State got its 20-point margin back with a 9-3 run to open the second half and lead 58-38 with 15:47 left
An 11-2 run by Harding (0-1) cut the Missouri State lead to 60-49 with 12:20 left.
Missouri State went on a 12-2 run that included two free throws after Harding coach Jeff Morgan was hit with a technical foul.
Dale Lamberth had 21 for Missouri State and Shane Laurie scored 12. Spencer Laurie and Justin Fuehrmeyer each had 10.
Matt Hall scored 24 for Harding, Chris Dixon added 14 and Steven Barnett scored 10.
The teams combined for 52 turnovers.
Missouri State will play North Carolina-Greensboro and Harding plays Texas-Pan American on Saturday. ^
