King leads Miami to 81-65 win over Marist in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP)—Anthony King scored 13 points and blocked four shots to lead Miami to an 81-65 win over Marist at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Thursday.
Backcourt mates Jack McClinton and James Dews each scored 11 points for Miami (2-0), who shot 52.4 percent on 3-pointers. Dews, McClinton and fellow guard James Hurdle combined to make eight 3-point shots.
Jay Gavin led Marist (1-1) with 19 points. David Devezin added 11 points for the Red Foxes, who shot 40 percent from the field and a miserable 45.5 percent (10-of-122) from the free throw line.
Miami shot 54.9 percent and had a comfortable 39-21 lead at halftime.
The Hurricanes outrebounded the Red Foxes 37-26, with three Miami players getting five boards apiece.
