Appalachian St. 81, Lipscomb 58
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Donald Sims scored 20 points Thursday night to help Appalachian State beat Lipscomb 81-58.
Lipscomb (0-3) led 22-12 with 5:20 left in the first half. But Sims hit a 3-pointer to give Appalachian State (1-1) a lead it never relinquished.
The largest margin came with 5:26 remaining in the game when Eduardo Bermudez made two free throws to put Appalachian State up 66-41.
Bermudez finished with 16 points and Jeremy Clayton scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Thomas Rfaff scored 14 points for Lipscomb and Adnan Hodzig finished with 10 points.
Appalachian State shot 49 percent from the field, compared to Lipscomb’s 34.8 percent.
