Trifunovic scores 24 as Binghamton beats Quinnipiac 88-75
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP)—Lazar Trifunovic had 24 points and 10 rebounds and new coach Kevin Broadus earned his first victory as Binghamton University won its home opener against Quinnipiac Wednesday night, 88-75.
Richard Forbes had 20 points for Binghamton, Moussa Camara had 14 points, and Mike Gordon had 15 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals. Dwayne Jackson was 4-4 from 3-point range for 12 points.
For Quinnipiac, Casey Cosgrove and DeMario Anderson each had 16 points and Louis Brookins had 15 points and five rebounds.
The teams traded baskets for the first eight minutes of the game before Binghamton used a seven-point run to take a 22-17 lead. The Bearcats increased their lead to 32-19 with five minutes left, then outscored the Bobcats 15-9 to take a 47-28 halftime lead.
Quinnipiac opened the second half with a 14-4 run keyed by a pair of 3-pointers by Cosgrove.
The Bobcats had cut the Bearcats’ lead to 58-52 when Binghamton responded with a 14-6 run to take a 72-58 lead.
Trifunovic scored 14 of his 24 points down the stretch.
