Jacksonville’s Smith scores 22 in 76-64 win over SC State
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP)—Ben Smith scored 22 points and had six assists and six rebounds to lead Jacksonville to a 76-64 win over South Carolina State on Wednesday night.
With the game tied at 49, Lehmon Colbert and Andre McMillan hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Dolphins (2-0) ahead for good.
Jacksonville continued to pull away, leading by as many as 14 points, and hit 10 of its last 13 free throws to seal the win.
The Bulldogs (0-3) made just 3-of-20 3-pointers, while the Dolphins were 8-of-22 from behind the arc.
Lehmon scored 15 points and had eight rebounds, while Ayron Hardy added 11 points for Jacksonville.
Derrick Davis led South Carolina State with 13 points, while Chris Miller-Williams added 11 points and six rebounds.
