Eldridge scores 27 to lead Illinois St. to 90-71 tournament win over SE Missouri
NORMAL, Ill. (AP)—Sophomore Osiris Eldridge scored 27 points and Anthony Slack had 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead Illinois State to a 90-71 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Wednesday in the first round of the Chicago Invitational Challenge.
Brandon Holtz added 15 points on five 3-point shots and Emmanuel Holloway came off the bench to score 10 points for Illinois State (2-0).
Southeast Missouri State (0-2) led 46-44 at the half, but Illinois State pulled away in the second period on an 18-2 run.
Will Bogan led Southeast Missouri State with 23 points. Brandon Foust added 11 points and Calvin Williams had 10 for the Redhawks.
Illinois State’s 90 points were the most by a Redbird team since February 2001. The Redbirds are 6-1 all-time against Southeast Missouri State, including five straight wins.
