Hartford earns 1st win with 70-55 victory over Sacred Heart
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)—Brian Glowiak and Morgan Sabia scored 14 points each to lead Hartford to a 70-55 win over Sacred Heart on Wednesday.
Glowiak was 4-for-6 from behind arc as the Hawks (1-2) finished with four players in double figures.
Corey Hassan led Sacred Heart (0-3) with 14 points and Chauncey Hardy added 10.
It was a tight game right up until the break. Neither team led by more than five points in the first half and the Hawks led 30-27 at intermission.
The Pioneers grabbed the early second-half lead at 37-36 on a Hassan 3-pointer. The Hawks tied it at 41-41 on a Joe Zeglinski 3-point play with 15:37 left. Zeglinski hit a jumper on Hartford’s next possession, giving the Hawks the lead for good.
Glowiak helped the Hawks pull away, hitting three 3-pointers over the next two minutes.
Hartford held Sacred Heart to 31 percent shooting and finished with a 41-38 edge on the glass. Rich Baker had a career high 10 boards for Hartford.
