Jones’ 13 points lead Savannah State over S.C. Aiken, 71-65

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP)—Anthony Jones came off the bench and scored 13 points, including a dunk to put Savannah State ahead for good, as the Tigers defeated South Carolina-Aiken 71-65 Tuesday night.

Chris Linton and Raye Bailey added 11 points each for Savannah State (2-1). Casey McMasters led all scorers with 17 points, while Chris Commons and Kingsley Oguchi each had 14 for S.C.-Aiken.

The Pacers took an early lead and were ahead by as many as eight points in the first half until Joseph Flegler’s 3-pointer tied it at 22-22 with 7:47 left. The Tigers pulled ahead and led 31-26 at the half.

S.C.-Aiken tied it again at 35-35 with 17:03 remaining after 3-pointers by Commons, McMasters and Oguchi. The Pacers led by four points, 49-45, when Jones had a 3-point shot at the 9:29 mark and followed up with a dunk a minute later. Savannah State never trailed again.
