Tulsa 72, Hampton 55
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP)—Vincent Simpson scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half and Hampton defeated Tulsa 72-55 on Sunday in the first round of the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
Rashad West scored 14 first-half points on his way to 22 for Hampton (1-0). Matthew Pilgrim added another 11 points and seven rebounds.
Ben Uzoh scored 13 and Glenn Andrews scored 12 to lead Tulsa (0-1), which committed 19 turnovers.
Hampton, which led by as many as eight points in the first half, went into halftime with a 34-28 advantage and later led by as much as 20 points.
With the win, Hampton advanced to play Maryland (1-0) in the College Park region final Monday. Tulsa will face North Florida (0-1) in a consolation game. Maryland beat North Florida 79-50 on Sunday night.
