Hartford and Wittman lead Cornell to a close win over Lehigh
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP)—Jason Hartford scored 19 points and Ryan Wittman added 15 to lead Cornell to an 87-83 win over Lehigh Saturday.
Hartford also led Cornell on the glass with eight rebounds, followed by Louis Dale who had seven.
Lehigh got 17 points from Marquis Hall, with Bryan White and Zahir Carrington adding 16 each.
Cornell (1-0) led for much of the first half, leading by as many as 15 points at 25-10 with 5:29 remaining. Lehigh (0-1) rallied back to end the half with a 5-point deficit at 29-24.
The teams exchanged points early in the second frame, tying it at 29-29 at 18:29 and then 31-31 at 17:56 before Cornell retook the lead and maintained it for the duration.
Cornell shot 77.3 percent from the charity stripe, to Lehigh’s 58.3 percent.
